Working on the Rough Draft of the new Huckfin project. Here's a sample. The Huckfin project is a youth after noon program starting in September from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm every weekday until the project is completed. The program is about trading skills for labor on the project. Basically participants 18 to 25 years old donate time building the sculpture and we provide a learning environment to teach skills in m.i.g. welding, gas cutting, plasma cutting, glass blowing, simple electronics, an approach to design, visual aesthetics, engineering elements and more. Learn by doing ( or also know as kinesthetic learning), and participating in something larger than you could do by yourself. “Impact Man” The first launch of the Huckfin project will be a historic 20 foot tall gold panning effigy called “Impact Man” This will be a mixed media sculpture made from steel, concrete, driftwood, glass, and copper. Once completed Horse Cow CF will donate the sculpture to the residents of Placerville. Hopefully getting this piece placed in a prominent area as to attract visitors and of course to be a new land mark. Placerville’s history will be reviewed and elements worked into the sculpture. Donating your time to this sculpture is very beneficial to you as a person. Some of the skills you will be learning can help get you a job in construction, management or even to help you start your own business. The project is open to young adults with a positive attitude and care for working together safely. All collaborators will need to take the 2 day safety work shop before working on the project. See appendix B for safety concepts to be reviewed.
